Last week, our Polish partners participated in openBIM Poland 2023, the first buildingSMART Polska conference, which took place the 18 May at the Copernicus Science Center in Warsaw.
buildingSMART International is known as the International Home of openBIM. buildingSMART is the worldwide organization driving the transformation of the built asset industry through creation & adoption of open, international standards. buildingSMART develops and maintains industry standards such as IFC, bSDD, and BCF. IFC is standardized by the International Standards Organization (ISO). These rules establishing a common standard allows the AECO community to benefit from a common language to export and import data. buildingSMART has been promoting the benefits of BIM for end-users as a better way of collaborating and exchanging data. With this foundation, buildingSMART is taking a leading role in the developing of extending the value of BIM by providing more open and collaborative ways of moving forward.
During the conference, Reincarnate had the chance to be shared among the audience as an innovative project leading the transition towards a green and circular construction sector. On a first interaction, Jorge Camilo Díaz Garcia, from CEMEX Global, explained how digital tools can support the path to CO2 neutrality. On a second interaction, our colleagues Alicja Kuczera, from Polish Green Building Council, and Piotr Dymarski, from Mostostal Warszawa SA, participated together with Henryk Kwapisz and Jorge Camilo Diaz Garcia in an interesting panel addressing different solutions to minimize the carbon footprint.
How Reincarnate intends to minimize the carbon footprint?
Our project is developing process innovations for construction and demolition waste management and reduction. Construction and demolition waste (CDW) accounts for more than a third of all waste generated in the EU. It contains a wide variety of materials such as concrete, bricks, wood, glass, metals and plastic. It includes all the waste produced by the construction and demolition of buildings and infrastructure, as well as road planning and maintenance. The main objective that we have for this waste stream are twofold. Firstly, we aim to ensure that CDW is managed in an environmentally sound way. Secondly, reaping the full potential of CDW in order to contribute to the transition to a circular economy.
In the conference participated specialists in openBIM and open standards developed, professionals working in the digital building sector and public bodies responsible for conducting and supervising public investments in Poland. The Reincarnate team is extremely happy to had participated at the first buildingSMART Polska conference.
