At Reincarnate, we are working to develop the technical and social means to give new opportunities to buildings, construction products and materials — thus maximising their life cycle and determining if they are suitable for reuse. This will only be possible thanks to the work of the Reincarnate team, made up of 16 partners present in 8 countries.

Over the next few months, we will introduce our team members through the “Behind Reincarnate” interview series. On this occasion, we asked the Plan B team from Sweden to tell us about their work in Reincarnate. They are working in digital transformation and innovation on an organisational level focused on information management. Take a look at what Therese Wetterström, Rebecca Markgren and Rogier Jongeling have told us:

Plan B  helps the built environment sector’s parties to become more efficient, sustainable, and competitive through the most powerful instrument of our time – digitalisation. With innovative digital solutions and a commitment and understanding of gender equality and sustainable development, Plan B plays a vital role in a project such as Reincarnate, which aims to develop the technical and social means to give new opportunities to buildings, construction products and materials through technology.

To face the enormous challenges of sustainability, efficiency and cost in the construction sector, Plan B has been working for 20 years, moving from a specialist CAD company to a digital partner to a diverse mix of stakeholders who run projects such as Reincarnate. With their expertise in digitalisation and sustainability, they are taking part in the Reincarnate Circular Potential – Information Model (CP-IM) as contributors to the models, inspections, and predictive life-cycle information.

Plan B is an expert in developing methodologies, processes, and work descriptions for digital twin concepts during design and construction. Therefore, they will support the innovative concepts for avoiding construction waste elaborated in the Active Construction Waste Reduction task of the Reincarnate project within the WP2. Together with other partners, they will develop the Lean Construction Resource Planning concepts and methods for active waste reduction during construction work.

At the Reincarnate project, Plan B leads the Component and product reuse task within WP3 on Solutions for adaptive reuse and recycling. This WP aims to develop solutions and possibilities to adapt buildings and their products to new uses. Plan B will generate the required concept to allow for de-installing products and components of buildings and to reuse them in other buildings at the high product quality.

Thanks to Plan B, Reincarnate will help architects and designers to recycle and reuse in their construction projects, integrating carbon-saving potential methods. Ultimately, all our approaches to address component and product reuse will be validated by a user group of architects, construction, and demolition contractors.
