Innovations
The solutions
we are developing
We are developing the technical and social means to reuse and maximise the life cycle of buildings, construction products and materials — thus advancing circular economy practices in the European construction industry.
Along with the Circular Potential Information Model (CP-IM), Reincarnate introduces a set of technical and process innovations that extends existing information and communication technologies methods and innovations from low technology readiness levels (TRL 1-4) to proven technical solutions at the system or the sub-system level (TRL 6).
All developed innovations will be built upon the Reincarnate CP-IM and linked to its data, and demonstrated on at least two demonstration projects.
The Reincarnate project will result in ten specific process innovations for CDW management and reduction.

6 actions we will take to address the challenges identified
1
Increasing significantly the construction and demolition waste utilization, including reuse, recycling and transformation of waste into secondary products.
2
Providing new value chains and sustainable business models for reducing construction waste by mobilising cross-sectorial actors.
3
Implementing appropriate tracing of materials along the new value chain.
4
Increasing by 50% the reusability of construction products post demolition and reducing the down cycling of construction waste by facilitating modular dismantling of complex construction products.
5
Planing a list of actions for overcoming relevant barriers (e.g., end of waste criteria, lack of trust in secondary products, awareness of circular potential).
6
Developing holistic and replicable solutions for more circular and climate-neutral construction materials and activities involving upstream (supply-side) and downstream (demand-side) actors.
