On February 6, 2025, Reincarnate hosted a collaborative workshop at Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) in partnership with Technische Universität Berlin (TUB). The focus of the meeting was to collaboratively develop guidelines that will help overcome barriers in adopting circular innovations in construction materials and products.

The construction industry is one of the largest contributors to global resource consumption and waste production. The Reincarnate project is dedicated to transforming the industry by promoting circular value chains, ensuring that materials are reused, repurposed, and reintegrated efficiently. However, the path to achieving this vision is not without challenges. That’s why this workshop aimed to establish clear, actionable guidelines to facilitate the adoption of circular principles in real-world applications.

Key Highlights

The session was designed to maximize collaboration and knowledge sharing among experts and stakeholders. It began with an introduction to the workshop’s goals: identify barriers in adopting Reincarnate 10 Innovations for Circular Value Chains in construction materials & products and brainstorming strategies to overcome them.

The heart of the workshop was an interactive brainstorming session where participants collaborated to identify key challenges and develop comprehensive guidelines. During this session, everybody worked closely to align circular economy principles with effective communication strategies. Our collective efforts led to the development of comprehensive guidelines designed to support the adoption of Reincarnate demonstrations, addressing key barriers in the construction materials and products sector. These guidelines aim to promote circular practices and facilitate the integration of circular principles into industry processes.

What’s Next?

The insights from this workshop will directly contribute to developing practical and scalable solutions for integrating circular economy principles into the construction industry. By addressing key barriers and fostering collaboration, we take one step closer to a more sustainable future.
