On March 13th and 14th, 2025, the Reincarnate consortium convened in Cologne, Germany, for its 6th General Assembly, hosted by 3L Architects. This bi-annual meeting gathered project partners to assess the project’s progress, refine strategic directions, and prepare for its final phase.

Day 1: Demonstration sessions, training platform updates, interactive workshop and innovation pitches

At Reincarnate, we are driving circular economy practices in the building sector, fostering a closed-loop system based on extended use, reuse, and recycling.

We are achieving this through innovations that significantly reduce the sector’s emissions footprint and enable the life cycle extension, reuse, and recycling of construction materials and products. These innovations are already being tested in real-world projects and value chains, serving as demonstrators.

The first day focused on demonstration cases, where innovation owners showcased how their solutions are being applied, with discussions emphasizing alignment between technical advancements and industry needs. Among the innovations presented were building inspection methods, digital interfaces for construction planning, and BIM-based circularity tools.

Other key solutions included waste assessment technologies, lean resource planning, and decision-making frameworks for real estate. The session also highlighted architectural design methodologies, upgrade solutions for construction products, and AI-driven material valuation.

In the afternoon, the focus shifted to capacity building and exploitation, starting with an update on the training platform by PLGBC, followed by an interactive Learning Paths” workshop led by TUB.

The session, aligned with the training platform strategy, explored how Reincarnate’s digital tools and MOOCs will support the adoption of circular economy principles in construction and partners worked on structuring knowledge transfer to maximize industry impact.

One of the key highlights of Day 1 was the Innovation Pitch Session, where work package leaders shared their evolving Key Exploitation Results (KERs). Won by Sammy TawakkoliRagn Sells Group, these pitches showcased the creative potential of the project and helped refine ideas to maximize real-world applications.

Day 2: Dissemination, standardization, exploitation, and next steps

The second day focused on strategic planning and project execution. The morning opened with a Technical Board Meeting, followed by deliverable planning sessions to align on upcoming milestones. Dissemination efforts took center stage, with AUSTRALO reporting a growing digital community, strong social media engagement, and increased visibility at industry events. A session on standardization, led by Austrian Standards International, emphasized aligning project results with EU regulations.

The exploitation session, led by DEMO, outlined pathways to bring project solutions to market and industry stakeholders. The final risk management session identified potential challenges and established mitigation strategies to ensure the project stays on track.

A special ‘thank you’ goes to 3L Architects for hosting this successful assembly. With nearly three years of implementation completed, the assembly reinforced the consortium’s shared commitment to advancing circular economy solutions in the construction sector. As Reincarnate moves into its final phase, the focus remains on refining innovations, strengthening industry collaborations, and ensuring lasting impact.
