Reincarnate strengthens circular construction practices by developing digital methods that enable high-quality dismantling and reuse of building components. Deliverable 3.2 – Methods for BIM Supported Dismantling presents a systematic approach for planning de-installation and reuse using Building Information Modelling (BIM) and IFC-based data structures.

The report introduces process concepts that show how designers can use the CP-IM platform to identify reusable products for new buildings, while property owners can generate disassembly plans and upload recovered components for future use. UML diagrams and IFC-aligned parameter sets structure the required information, supporting transparent, scalable workflows for reuse. The deliverable also links with embodied-carbon methods from Task 2.1, enabling stakeholders to prioritise windows, façade elements and HVAC components based on carbon-saving potential.

By integrating digital workflows with circular design principles, BIM-supported dismantling accelerates the shift toward smarter, lower-impact construction practices.


The deliverable was a joint effort led by Plan B, with contributions from TUB, MOS, DMO, TUD, 3L, VIAS and RAS, and reviewed by 3L and TUD.
