A new Horizon Europe cross-project collaboration: StandICT.eu & Reincarnate

About StandICT.eu
From one hand, StandICT.eu fosters the participation of European experts in international ICT standardisation. To reach this goal, it has three main axes: firstly, it will fund 400+ European standardisation experts in a series of 9 Open calls providing a total of almost 3M€ of funding. Secondly, it manages the European Observatory for ICT Standardisation (EUOS), which is an interactive online ecosystem including an up-to-date standards repository as well as working groups sharing insights about ongoing standardization efforts across different initiatives. Thirdly, via its Academy, it trains future experts in ICT standardisation. StandICT.eu focuses on horizontal and vertical ICT fields as defined in the Rolling Plan for ICT Standardisation[1].
About Reincarnate
From the other hand, Reincarnate is working towards revolutionise the construction industry by developing the technical and social means to establish a reincarnation practice within the building sector. As the core to support the envisioned innovations, the project is developing an information system that allows evaluating a building’s circular potential — the Reincarnate Circular Potential Information Model (CP-IM). The CP-IM will allow to store and capture all required data to understand the potential to extend the lifetime of a building, its building components, and materials, and to find optimal reuse possibilities for each of its elements. It will also enable to trace construction products and materials across different buildings, waste management steps, and construction sites. One of the core parts of Reincarnate is focused on contributing to standardisation efforts, for example for building assessment, circular valuation of construction products and material, or building information modelling.
Considering that both projects have in common the work towards consolidating a robust standards framework in the fields of circular economy, digital transformation of the construction industry sector and environmental ICT, this MoU consolidates even further this commitment on both sides.
‘’We warmly welcome Reincarnate in the StandICT.eu Community counting over 15 Research and Innovation projects in the community! With this collaboration, we aim to increase experts’ participation in the field of standardization in circular economy, which is one of the main building blocks of the European Green deal”, says Mona Marill, Project Manager in the StandICT.eu programme.
Collaboration
StandICT.eu will involve Reincarnate in the experts work at the EUOS, sharing insights in the ongoing standardisation activities and relevant standards. Also, the forth coming Open Calls will be an occasion to push the contributions in the international standardisation even further. Reincarnate will invite StandICT.eu members to support the project’s mission setting out a roadmap for contributing to different standardisation bodies. This activity will identify significant opportunities to push contributions into future standards, pre-normative activities and open collaborative development environments. This partnership will, for sure, boost the standardisation activities of Reincarnate.
‘’On behalf of Reincarnate, we welcome this collaboration with great enthusiasm. Establish cross-project agreements is a key aspect in Horizon research and innovation initiatives to grow in knowledge areas, for us in this case on standardization. We are confident that the StandICT expertise will help us analyse and evaluate the identified standards against project findings, contributing to Reincarnate success.’’, says Carmen Serna, Community Manager in the Reincarnate project.
