On October 10th and 11th, 2024, the Reincarnate team convened in Belgrade for its 5th General Assembly, hosted at the Science Technology Park Belgrade. With 16 partners from across Europe, including the recent addition of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), the assembly provided an excellent opportunity to reflect on progress and shape next steps as the project entered its second half.
Day 1: Updates, technical insights and innovation
The day began with opening remarks by Timo Hartmann, the project coordinator from Technische Universität Berlin (TUB), followed by an introduction of the new partner, HUST, whose focus will be mainly on the development of robotic solutions for waste separation.
As the team gathered for discussions, Niharika Parasar from Erasmus University Rotterdam provided an update on Work Package 4, focusing on the project’s technical progress and challenges.
Following this, the team delved into demonstration cases, as Benjamín Moreno Torres from TUB presented an update on the project’s pilots and demonstration value chains (WP 5). These updates sparked valuable discussions on how to effectively present the results and showcase their broader impact.
One of the key highlights of Day 1 was the Innovation Pitch session, where Work Package leaders shared their evolving Key Exploitation Results (KERs). Won by Samaneh Rezvani, these pitches demonstrated the creative potential of the project and helped refine ideas to maximize real-world applications.
The day also featured a workshop on how to best present demonstrations’ impact, designed by AUSTRALO and focused on refining communication strategies to ensure the results are shared effectively. We ended the first day with a brainstorming session and strategic planning for the project’s scientific publications.
Day 2: Strategy, Dissemination, and Future Planning
Day 2 kicked off with a Technical Board meeting, setting the tone for the day’s discussions. AUSTRALO followed with the updates on dissemination, focusing on how to engage broader audiences and stakeholders through effective communication strategies. Austrian Standards International (ASI) led the discussions on standardization efforts, ensuring the project’s alignment with industry regulations and best practices.
The exploitation session, led by DEMO Consultants, highlighted how the project’s results could be leveraged for commercial and societal impact. The team also engaged in a forward-looking strategy session, evaluating where the project stands and the steps needed to ensure continued success. Finally, a dedicated risk management session highlighted potential challenges and mitigation strategies, ensuring that the project remains on track.
Wrapping Up
The assembly concluded with summarizing key takeaways from the two days. It provided a valuable opportunity for in-person collaboration, facilitating deeper connections between partners and fostering a shared commitment to the project’s objectives.
Special thanks go to Mainflux Labs for organizing this successful assembly in Belgrade. As the team moves forward, the focus remains on advancing innovations, refining demonstrations, and delivering impactful solutions for the future of sustainable construction.
