Reincarnate strengthens circular resource planning by improving how recycled construction materials are evaluated and compared. Deliverable 2.4 – Valuation of Recycled Materials provides an integrated overview of deterioration mechanisms, nondestructive testing (NDT) methods, and predictive modelling to support informed reuse decisions in future projects.
The report outlines how NDT techniques can assess the condition of key materials such as concrete, steel, wood, and masonry without damaging them. It also shows how digital workflows and data-driven models can transform inspection practices, enhance structural monitoring, and make secondary materials more reliable for reuse. By clarifying how material performance data feeds into decision-making, the study helps builders and asset managers prioritise recycled materials with lower environmental impacts.

By strengthening trust in secondary materials, this work supports safer reuse pathways and accelerates the shift toward a low-carbon construction ecosystem.
The deliverable was a joint effort led by Ghezal Ahmad Jan Zia (BAM) with contributions from Ragn Sells, CEMEX and TUB, and reviewed by Erasmus University Rotterdam and Mostostal.
