While hosting our 4th General Assembly in Valencia, the European Green Capital of 2024, the Building Smart International Summit also convened from March 12th to 15th. Every year, this summit gathers professionals from diverse fields within the built environment to advance some of the industry’s most critical topics, including digital twins, asset management, and connected data environments.

The Spanish delegation organized the 2024 summit, centred on “Achieving Sustainability Goals with OpenBIM.” The workshops, masterclasses, and conferences provided attendees with an enriching platform to glean insights from global experts and foster dialogue within the building smart ecosystem.

Our colleague Piotr Dymarski, leading the Digitalization and Innovation Office at Mostostal Warszawa S.A., recognized this event as a relevant opportunity to engage with industry professionals committed to leveraging open standards for a more sustainable built environment. Attending the summit on behalf of the Polish delegation and gathering insights for the Reincarnate project, he sought to establish synergies with stakeholders and gain valuable knowledge.

“Thanks to the Spanish crew organisation, we witnessed a remarkable commitment to advancing sustainability within the built environment at this 2024 summit. With Reincarnate, we are in line with these developments, developing digital innovations and demonstrating them in real-world scenarios. At the summit, I had the chance to learn how the fusion of technologies such as GIS and Digital Twins with sustainability and AI marks a significant advancement toward efficient urban projects. A huge advantage of the conference was hearing about the implementation of openBIM in infrastructure projects, such as Madrid Chamartin-Clara Campoamor Station, where at the demolition and construction phase there are a lot of things to coordinate.” expressed Piotr Dymarski, reflecting on the event’s significance.
